Secluded exotic garden, Harpenden
This has been one of my favourite projects, as it was a little different. When I first saw the garden, my client had removed the original lawn, and started to build a quirky brick path along the length of the garden. The garden was very overlooked, and he wanted to achieve a sense of privacy, and also ensure that the garden looked good all year round. We discussed his planting preferences, and I came up with a palette of plants that would provide texture and interest throughout the year, and also give him the seclusion and screening that he required. He also wanted a slightly exotic feel to the planting, and was keen to incorporate ferns and palm trees where possible. Now that the planting has matured, the back of the garden and the small patio are barely visible from the house, and when you sit on the patio, you have a real sense of privacy and calm. Since most of the plants are evergreen and structural, the garden looks good throughout the year.
